New BBC News Website

Just had a glance at the new BBC News website. Looks quite nice. It’s softer on the eyes and I’m sure it will be more accessible for people with poor vision. It’s also an improvement for people using high resolutions.
For some reason all the news section pages are still using the old design. Perhaps I’m just visiting while development is occuring.
Must get to work now!

I’m not a fan, I have to say – as others have said (http://www.internetbusiness.co.uk/31032008/bbc-redesigns-world-news-now-a-bland-blog/), it looks very templatey, and doesn’t feel as authoratative as it should do.

By the way, I like the Who record in the header! Very nice

Thanks!
I agree with the point in the post you linked to, it does have a standard blog feel. However, I think the old design, while perfectly functional, was a bit lacking compared to other news sites.
Hopefully the suggestions for improvements from the blogsphere will be noted by the designers an improvements will be made.
Two of my housemates that are typical web browsers (i.e. not designers) noted that it looks less professional, backing up what you suggested.
